Aries season is coming to a close, it’s starting to feel close-ish to summer, Pony April mixtapes are in full swing! TONIGHT we have class with Malia at 7PM! Malia usually teaches Wednesday 10:15AM class, so if you’re an evening Pony, make sure to come! Her mixtape is so fun :) Come move through big feelings, get out excess energy, discover new sides of yourself, and be around other people!
What u can expect dancing to Tomboy by Princess Nokia with MALIAAAA:
On Saturday, we have class with Emilia at 1:45PM! I found this beautiful video of Andy Bell of Erasure performing Breath of Life and I am rather obsessed with it, such a mood boost to behold his wiggly hips and shimmering pants…we’re dancing to this song with Emilia ALL MONTH LONG! Don’t miss the experience! Happy early birthday to Andy Bell who turns 61 on April 25 :)
If you aren’t at Coachella this weekend, you can still experience a dose of Missy Elliott by dancing to Best Friends with us :) I really enjoy dancing to both What About Your Friends (TLC) and Best Friends (Missy + Aaliyah) with Malia and Emilia this month. Friends are EVERYTHING!!!
If you’re a Pony looking for a trustworthy hair person, may I give a special shoutout to my fellow Aries buddy, COURTNEY RICE of Sunday Morning Hair. Courtney has borne witness to Pony Sweat since the beginning (2014!) as a friend of Emilia, and has been coming to class regularly over the past 18 months (I recruited her HARD during a fall haircut). She is a delight to have in class and is an amazingly talented hair stylist, ethical business owner, and has her own gorgeous salon in El Sereno where she always plays great music. Courtney utilizes an awesome sliding scale system which she thoughtfully explains here. And lately she’s been cutting a lot of Ponies’ hair, how fun!!
Ok Ponies, we’re keeping it short today. It’s my birthday tomorrow and I’m headed to the Theodore Payne Foundation’s Poppy Days’ Spring Sale!!!! Pulling weeds and planting colorful, drought-friendly natives has been my favorite creative/intuitive pastime lately. Highly recommend. Shoutout Plant Material and Fig Earth Supply for local fixes in my neighborhood!
