Hey Ponies! Happy May! I’m sitting outside in my beloved zero-gravity Lafuma padded chair I got for a steal off OfferUp, birds are chirping, I’m only a little dehydrated, and it’s almost the weekend. This week I started visiting the huge free mulch pile in Lincoln Heights by St. Vincent’s thrift store and filled up ~20 bags over multiple days. Each time I went there were different people there, each with their own unique mulch collection approaches…in my estimation we were all tired and hot but also pleased with ourselves and the City of LA. Peaceful communal moments with strangers is kind of the best. Isn’t it funny how you can drive by a spot hundreds of times and never know that each week a huge delivery of mulch made from broken down green waste is deposited right there!? Bring your own bags. ANYWAYS MOVING RIGHT ALONG TO OTHER PONY NEWS…
EMILIA IS TEACHING CLASS THIS SATURDAY 1:45PM AND MONDAY 7PM!! This is Noteworthy because Emilia is going to have to take some time off in May and June for a medical procedure (she is safe and fine, don’t worry, positive magic energies are welcome!). Emilia’s NEW May mixtape includes a song off Pony Lia Braswell’s upcoming album, and Lia is going to be in class on Saturday for the mixtape’s debut. Pretty cool!!! A Yeah Yeah Yeahs song we’ve never danced to will also be on E’s May mixtape. Malia and Jaq will be subbing for Emilia for about half the Mondays and Saturdays the next few months - keep an eye on our schedule for the latest!
Jaquita will be leading her April mixtape again in May because she was in Paris for 3 weeks and we simply did not have enough time to explore these songs!! Yesterday I showed up to 7PM class feeling so tired, lethargic, unmotivated…and kid you not, at 8PM I walked out of Pickle Factory feeling CLEANSED of cobwebs, full of energy, clear-headed…I truly felt completely different. The before/after Emotional/Physical contrast was wild and profound. Thank you Jaq for your service and for all the Ponies who were in class last night, it was pure joy!!!!
A new Pony wrote this after Malia’s class (Wednesday 10:15AM) and I love it so much:
“I love this class. The space is free and inviting enough to truly feel like you’re dancing in your bedroom. It’s a great workout with great music and no judgement. Dance, Ponies!”

In Los Angeles there will be a WITCH Anthology launch party 5/20 at Philosophical Research Society! Emilia will be reading and sharing moves from her contribution to the book (!!!!) alongside many rad and powerful witches. Tickets are available here.
