Y’all, I had the wild experience of being in Zurich, Switzerland for Pride last weekend! We went to the parade and also danced at a gay club which was sooooo special. I REALLY thought about all the Ponies when they played Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler in the club and everyone (including a group of early 20s queers) screamed the lyrics. The DJ also played a Yeah Yeah Yeahs remix that we’ve danced to at Pony Sweat (“heads will roll, heads will roll, on the floor!”)!!! I ALSO thought of the Ponies when my spouse and I were watching the Pride parade from the sidelines and it all felt kinda corporate and cheesy BUT THEN a contingent of Swiss weirdos dancing to 212 by Azaelia Banks walked by and I was like…let’s join!!! So we walked and danced with them and all the music the DJ played was SO good, it was perfect. Ride Wit Me by Nelly (2000) never gets old, frankly. And also a bus full of queers dancing to I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor was VERY emotional!!! I made this silly TikTok to summarize the experience ~~

At Pony Sweat we recognize that we have the privilege to go about our daily lives while there is tremendous violence and injustice that continue to happen around the world. While we love celebrating Pride / honoring our queer and trans ancestors / being our queerest most liberated selves, it is also imperative to amplify the immense, dire needs of Palestinians in Gaza. We urge Ponies to send funds to Operation Olive Branch and to use OOB’s amazing spreadsheet as a guide to help folks get to safety. We are committed to supporting fundraisers on this list. Please join us in contributing!!
Such a pleasure to dance to “Why?” by Bronski Beat all month long. Bronski Beat is hands down the band I’m most grateful to have learned about via Pony Sweat. Shoutout to my fellow early 90s/late 90s babies and shoutout to everybody who listened to Bronski Beat in the 80s as a full grown adult!!!!
